Key Decision Makers Can Learn About Latest Technology for a Safe, Green, Connected Campus; Solutions Ideal for EMHE Funding Guidelines

RICHARDSON, TX - October 8, 2010 - AMX®, the leading provider of solutions that simplify the implementation, maintenance, and use of technology to create effective environments, today announced plans to provide technical advice to university officials on the latest in alert-notification systems corresponding to Emergency Management for Higher Education (EMHE) guidelines. AMX counselors will be available to assist administrators at booth #1447 at EDUCAUSE 2010, Oct. 12-15, in Anaheim, CA.

The EMHE grant program, overseen by the U.S. Department of Education, is designed to support institutions of higher education with projects that address all four phases of emergency management: prevention-mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery. To help busy administrators take advantage of current or future funding, AMX will offer assistance in tracking funding, reviewing grant opportunities and will provide consultation on technology solutions that align to funding guidelines. All institutions of higher learning are eligible for the EMHE discretionary grants, including private universities and community colleges.

AMX designs solutions that are ideal for effective communication across campuses, such as the turn-key Inspired XPress digital signage hardware and software solution, which is easy to use and can rapidly disburse visual and audio emergency notification messaging to all displays on a campus with a single touch. This initial notification can be followed with custom messages to all displays to fit the situation and share important directions and information.

"With the technology we have today, a strategically deployed digital signage solution can be highly effective in not only meeting required EMHE guidelines, but also in the greater objective of keeping our students safe," said Michael Peveler, Vice President of Education Sales of AMX. "The Inspired XPress digital signage solution from AMX is ideal for the EMHE program and features a simple, intuitive software interface that allows staff to easily manage and create signage content, with the power to deliver dynamic information across a far-reaching campus."

The EMHE Grant Program is designed to support institutions of higher education develop and fully integrate, or review and improve, campus-based all-hazards emergency management planning initiatives within the framework of the four phases of emergency management.
